Prism Sound Saves SADiE

4.11.2008

Prism Sound has bought financially ailing audio editing and production gear provider SADiE, formerly owned by Studio Audio and Video Ltd.

Prism Sound is known for its A/D and D/A converters for mastering, tracking and post production.

“Along with many people in the industry, we were very saddened to hear that SADiE had run into problems,” says Graham Boswell, who along with fellow Prism Sound Director Ian Dennis negotiated the deal after learning that SADiE had gone into administration—the English equivalent of bankruptcy—in February. “The company’s reputation for innovation and creativity is truly remarkable and its digital audio workstations are rightly considered to be the best in the world.”

Boswell said the two companies have complementary product ranges with overlapping customer bases. “We are confident that we can create a formidable and highly competitive business for the future,” he said.

“We will be keen to combine the Prism Sound ‘Sound’ with the supreme reliability and ease of use of the SADiE editing and production software,” said Prism Sound Chief Technology Officer Ian Dennis.

The SADiE brand name will be retained.

Existing customers will have access to product support using the same telephone numbers and e-mail addresses; new orders are being accepted by Prism Sound’s sales offices in England and New Jersey.

Prism says deliveries will resume quickly, although availability of certain products may be limited initially as a result of reduced stock levels.

Prism Sound says it is looking for a location that will allow it to combine both businesses in one facility. During the transitional period, Prism Sound will operate from SADiE’s old headquarters in Stretham, Cambridge, as well as its current headquarters at Cowley Road.
