| FCC Revises ‘Public and Broadcasting’ |
| |
|
| May 2, 2008 |
|
The FCC has revised a golden oldie, “The Public and Broadcasting.”
The agency reminds stations they must keep a printed copy of the document in their public files. The document, which originated in the 1970s, was designed to educate the public about the FCC.
Tweaks include contact info for “Broadcast Information Specialists” to answer questions from the public about how to become involved in the commission’s processes.
Inquiries about FCC complaint or petitioning procedures or the filing and status of the license renewal, modification or assignment or transfer application for a particular TV station can be sent to tvinfo@fcc.gov.
For an overview of public file considerations, see Chuck Bullett’s recent article in Radio World, “Keeping Tabs: Public File 101”.
