TVB Tech Alert: FLO TV Mobile Device
SAN FRANCISCO: Tech blog maestro Peter Rojas set the tubes on fire
today with a breaking story about a new portable DTV from Qualcomm. The FLO TV
Personal Television, or PTV, will function specifically with FLO, a mobile DTV
service based on Qualcomm’s Media FLO standard. Verizon uses it for VCast,
though only a few handsets sport FLO capability. Rojas said Qualcomm plans to
intro the new PTV “soon.”
He said the device is likely to have a “capacitive touchscreen with a swipe and
gesture-driven UI,” 4 GB of memory, stereo speakers and 300 hours of standby
battery life.
Rojas, principal of gdgt.com and founder of gear blogs Gizmodo and
Engadget, obtained the rendering from his source at Qualcomm.
