The Outdoor Channel 'Shooting Gallery' Now in HD
The Outdoor Channel is airing its third season of "Shooting Gallery" in HD.

The season opens up with the International Tactical Rifle Championships--a long distance rifle match in which the U.S. military participates--in Gillette, Wyo.

Michael Bane--who co-produces the show--said that the rifle match has not previously been filmed successfully, but with the new season of "Shooting Gallery," viewers will feel like they are right there in the Humvee, helicopter or boat, closer to the competition.

"Shooting Gallery" will also be aired on the new Outdoor Channel 2 HD, which is slated to debut July 2005.

For viewers watching in standard definition, the program will be aired in wide-screen format, according to Bane.

With higher resolutions and larger HD screens, wide shots using very wide lenses can be a problem because they allow viewers to see that infinity doesn’t quite resolve into perfect sharpness.
