'Star Wars' HD Animated Series Coming in 2008
While George Lucas is not expected to release any of his six live-action "Star Wars" motion pictures on either Blu-ray Disc or HD DVD anytime soon (HD Notebook, May 23, 2007) Lucasfilm Ltd. said this week it expects a newly produced Star Wars-related "Clone Wars" series to be syndicated in animated form for a target release date of fall 2008. The series will be produced in HD, according to TVWeek.com.

Lucas is serving as executive producer of the animated series, with about 300 employees working on its various episodes. (Major animation work is being done at Lucasfilm Singapore.)

Lucas is also still contemplating production of a live-action "Star Wars" TV series.
