Sony intros New Bravia Series XBR Models
Sony said it will soon unveil seven XBR flat panel LCD HD models in its Bravia line, including some models with its proprietary Triluminos LED backlight and local dimming for enhanced black-level reproduction and contrast.

The new models will grow the Bravia LCD series to 30 models (in screen sizes between 19 and 70 inches). Sony considers its XBR models among its premium line of HD units.

Included in the new models are the 1080p 55-inch KDL-55XBR8 and 46-inch KDL-46XBR8. Triluminos is Sony’s three-color LED backlight technology with local dimming, coupled with 10-bit processing and 10-bit panel. Sony said it greatly expands color range by aligning individual clusters of red, green and blue LED and enhancing color purity.
