SBE Elects New National President
The Society of Broadcast Engineers (SBE) elected Barry Thomas, CPBE/CBNT, as the 25th president of the society. Barry Thomas is vice president of radio engineering for Lincoln Financial Media. His one-year term will start Oct. 11 during the SBE National Meeting in Pittsburgh, Pa.

“I’m excited about serving the Society and helping continue the excellent efforts the SBE has made in certifying, educating and networking broadcast engineers,” Thomas said. “It’s our goal to concentrate our efforts on the core purposes of SBE, strengthen SBE chapters and facilitate our members’ involvement in creating the next innovations in broadcasting.”

He will be assisted by Vice President Vincent Lopez, CEV/CBNT. Vincent Lopez is director of engineering for WSYT and WNYS-TV in Syracuse. The stations are owned by Sinclair Broadcast Group. He is currently serving as chairman of the SBE education committee and also served as a member of the Board of Directors for four years and as a member of the Executive Committee.
