  • • The FCC accepted an application from PanAmSat Licensee Corp. to modify its authorization for Intelsat 1R to move it from its currently assigned location at 45.0 degrees west longitude (WL) to 50.0 degrees WL. Intelsat 1R operates in the bands 3700-4200 MHz, 10950-11200 MHz, 11450-11950 MHz, 5925-6425 MHz and 13750-14500 MHz. As part of the application, PanAmSat requested, to the extent required, a waiver of several FCC rules.

  • • The FCC granted PanAmSat special temporary authority (STA) for a period of 30 days, commencing Nov. 24, 2009, to conduct in-orbit testing of the Intelsat-14 C/Ku-band satellite at 47 degrees WL and to drift it from that location to its assigned orbital location at 45 degrees WL after it completes testing. Intelsat-14 uses 3700-4200 MHz and 11.45-11.95 GHz (space-to-Earth) and 5925-6425 MHz and 14.0-14.5 GHz (Earth-to-space).
  • • Sirius XM Radio, Inc. was granted STA for 180 days to operate two terrestrial repeaters at power levels of as much as 2,000 watts EIRP in Detroit, Mich. using the 2320-2332.5 MHz Satellite Digital Audio Radio Service band.
