Robert Denny Appointed Frequency Coordinator for Inauguration
Anticipating spectrum congestion and interference from this week's presidential inauguration in Washington, D.C. this week, the FCC has appointed Robert W. Denny, Jr., P.E. and the firm of Denny & Associates, P.C, a D.C.-area RF engineering and consulting firm as the frequency coordinator for short term auxiliary broadcast use. Denney was recommended for the position by the Washington Executive Broadcast Engineers Frequency Coordinators, Inc. (WFE).

All Part 74, 78 and 101 licensees sharing spectrum available under Part 74 of the FCC rules are required to coordinate any terrestrial short-term use of this spectrum within a 100-kilometer radius of Lafayette Park (38-53-19.0 degrees North, 77-02-17.0 degrees W, NAD83 coordinates) from Jan. 13, 2005 through Jan. 21, 2005. The radius expands to 150 kilometers for radios onboard aircraft. According to the commission's Public Notice the actions were taken because the FCC was concerned that< "uncoordinated use of auxiliary broadcast stations on a special temporary authority basis might result in spectrum congestion and excessive interference, resulting in less complete broadcast coverage.

Mr. Denny can be reached for the purposes of frequency coordination at 301-686-1801; fax: 301-686-1820, and e-mailed at Robert W. Denny, Jr..
The local frequency coordinator will provide assistance and database access to all local and non-local Part 74 licensees, as well as all Parts 78 and 101 licensees sharing spectrum available under Part 74, for temporary fixed, mobile and portable installations," according to the public notice.
