RCA to Lower Prices on HD Products for March Madness
As the basketball championships approach, prices are being reduced on the RCA
brand of HD sets in sizes ranging from 40- to 61-inches. TTE Corporation, the developer and manufacturer of RCA sets for the U.S. market, is unveiling the "RCA Home Court Advantage" campaign with an advertising promotion in USA Today. (A one-sixth page "teaser" ran in the Feb. 28 sports section, to be followed by a full-page ad on March 4). The ads will tout "slam dunk savings" on nearly two-dozen HD models capable of delivering images so real that "fans will feel they're watching from courtside."
The promotion will encourage consumers to purchase 44- or 50-inch DLP (Digital Light Processing) HD receivers or 40- or 52-inch HD monitors. The product package features 23 RCA and RCA Scenium digital sets, including 15 models based on Texas Instruments' DLP technology in lightweight designs and slim-line cabinets. A dozen of the DLP products do not require separate set-top tuners for HD, and 10 of the featured models include integrated ATSC tuner/decoders and digital cable-ready circuitry that enable consumers to receive both cable HD--and terrestrial HD--without separate digital cable STBs. All models featured in the campaign will be available at national retail stores and independent retailers throughout the United States.
