1080p: Hitachi Details Plans for Plasma, LCD Models
Hitachi America's 2006 plasma line unveiled in the past week includes a 42-inch unit with 1080p that it says will soon be on the market. Hitachi also has 1080p LCD models set for a November launch.

Most of Hitachi's new HD models (UltraVision brand) will include 3 HDMI and 3 component inputs, according to Hitachi. The company said its PictureMaster HD III video processing technology features third-gen 1080p processing and extended color capabilities to reproduce more pure reds, greens and blues.

Hitachi's 42-inch plasma 1080p model (42HDS69) will come with 1024 x 1080 resolution (not 1920 x 1080) and use its ALiS (Alternate Lighting of Surfaces) technology that the firm said prompts more than 1.1 million pixels.
