JVC to Host Demo of HDV-to-35mm Movie in Los Angeles, Chicago
JVC Professional Products is inviting the film community to a free screening of Oscar-nominated filmmaker Andy Young's demo of his HDV-to-35mm film footage using JVC's ProHD camera (model GY-HD100U). Screening events are scheduled for Jan. 31 (4-6 p.m.) at the Director's Guild of America Screening Room in Los Angeles, and on Feb. 2 at the Columbia College Chicago Film Row Cinema (11 a.m.-2 p.m.).

Young will show footage he shot on assignment with the Bronx Zoo, the Wildlife Conservation Foundation, and National Geographic Television, where he followed a team of scientists into remote locales such as Madagascar, with the GY-HD100U, according to a JVC statement. Recently at the Tribeca Film Center in New York, Young showed 720p/30 fps footage which had been conformed to 720p/23.98 during the editing process, up-rezed to 1080p and then mastered to a film print.

To register for the free event and receive a confirmation number, go to JVC's Web site (http://pro.jvc.com) and click on the "ProHD Film Event" banner.
