JVC Camcorder Now Allows .MP4 File-Capture to SDHC Cards
|JVC GY-HM700 |
JVC announced this week a new feature added to its GY-HM700 ProHD camcorder (which duplicates its smaller camcorder, the GY-HM100), allows .MP4 files to be recorded directly onto a SDHC card (as well as .MOV files) when an SxS adapter is not attached. The feature is designed to provide greater flexibility for shooting, along with a "dual media" option.
In combination with the optional SxS adaptor (KA-MR100), the GY-HM700 allows the docked media recorder to capture Sony XDCAM EX compatible .MP4 files on high-speed SxS memory cards — while simultaneously recording the same .MP4 files to SDHC cards. JVC said instantly having two copies of the same material available assures always having a back-up and expands the economic efficiencies of the camcorder.
The .MP4 file format recorded on SDHC can be "natively" edited by NLE systems which support XDCAM EX, thus eliminating transfer time within the post-production workflow.
The new recording option, to be standard on all new GY-HM700 camcorders, also is being made available as a free online download to existing JVC customers.
