Gefen Unveils New Scalers for HD-SDI
Two new scalers from Gefen (HD-SDI to DVI, and DVI to HD-SDI) provide upscaling and downscaling of SD and HD resolutions for DVI (digital visual interface) sources and displays to be integrated into systems using SDI (serial digital interface).

Each scaler supports single and dual link DVI and SDI modes, the Woodland Hills, Calif.-based company said, and may be up/down scaled and outputted in resolutions up to 1080p. The DVI to HD-SDI scaler supports an array of inputs from VGA to WUXGA, as does the HD-SDI to DVI scaler.

An optional RS-232 port is included on both scalers for linking upgradeable firmware, and for system set-up and control. An on-screen menu (French and English) enables selection of preferences, which is also available through an infrared remote.

Both scalers employ the latest versions of de-interlacing and scaling algorithms with dynamic edge detection.
