FFV Unveils Its Next-Gen HD DVR
Fast Forward Video, has issued the next generation in its Omega Deck line of HD digital video recorders, the Omega HD. The new unit records HD and SD with JPEG2000 compression up to 100 MB.

According to FFV, the HD DVR allows users to store multiple HD and SD video files and create video clips, loops, and playlists from the front panel for various broadcast and film production applications--including graphics and key fill, spot insertion, and sports/instant replay. The new model also is dual-channel, to provide simultaneous playback and record, the company said.

Reproduction technology has reached the point where HD image quality of recorded content is "virtually indistinguishable from the original," said FFV, which is partly the result of JPEG2000 wavelet compression.
