Europe: Sony Offers PS3 HD DVR
Sony said it will begin to offer a TV tuner-combo DVR for PlayStation 3 gamers, although the PS3 add-on will only be available in Europe for the time being.

Sony’s “PlayTV” can download TV content for viewing on a TV set or the PSP (PlayStation Portable). PlayTV also houses two HD tuners. While the product offers some new possibilities for PS3 video gamers in dealing with DTV content, there currently are no plans to bring it to North America, according to Ars Technica.

European television uses the DVB-T format (Digital Video Broadcasting-Terrestrial), which Sony supports. All PS3 units also are compatible with Blu-ray Disc drives, which are internal.
