Dem Convention: DNCC Provides Online Gavel-to-Gavel HD
As part of its goal to provide the most extensive technological coverage of its national coverage ever undertaken, the Democratic National Convention Committee’s official Web site is offering virtually all convention events both live and in video highlights in what it says is HD. (The video, even in full-screen mode, appears very close to 720p quality.)

The DNCC’s Website users are required to download Microsoft’s Silverlight plug-in, along with the media player from Move Networks. A broadband connection is also necessary to view the video.

On the other side of the political aisle, the GOP convention coming up next week (Sept. 1-4) in the Xcel Energy Center in downtown St. Paul, Minn., also is featuring tons of video on its official Web site, although it does not claim to be HD.
