CES2008: Motorola’s DCX Delivers Next-gen MPEG-4
Motorola is showing its next-gen MPEG-4 video compression set-top box (DCX series) for HD video and surround sound audio at CES. It has enhancements such as “whole home DVR,” with large hard drives that enable time-shifting HD or SD TV shows and user-generated material such as photos, films, and other multimedia files. Stored content can be shared with other compatible devices in the home, using the DCX as a multimedia hub.

Motorola said the DCX series was designed to address increased storage and expanded video bandwidth needs with increased decode capabilities for MPEG-4 AVC (advanced video compression) support. The DCX boxes combine MPEG-2 and MPEG-4 technologies.
