Canon Intros Consumer HD Camcorder With HDMI
Canon has unveiled its latest camcorder, the HV20 HD, which includes a 10x HD video zoom lens with optical image stabilization and 1920x1080 CMOS image sensor. The camcorder, to be marketed to amateur videographers, records 1080i.

With a horizontal design, the unit includes an Advanced Accessory Shoe capable of accommodating external video, lights and/or directional mics, according to Canon.

The HV20 HD provides mic and headphone input terminals with manual level controls, and a "24p Cinema Mode" that offers the frame rate of commercial motion pictures and adds a film-like look to video. The new unit has an HDMI terminal for cable transport of HD video to an HD monitor.
