Canada: Rogers Cable to Update HD PVR
Rogers Cable will begin a firmware update of its SA 8300HD DVR box this week in areas located north of Toronto, and in Scarborough. The firmware will be rolled out gradually to all Rogers customers in Ontario. The entire update may take about three weeks to complete, with the last DVR owners having their updates by Friday, Jan. 26, according to Digital Home Canada.

The Scientific Atlanta Explorer 8300HD is an HD two-tuner digital video recorder and cable box with a 160 GB hard drive that Rogers said can record and store up to 20 hours of HD programming. The MSO last updated its firmware in mid-2005. In the past year, Digital Home reports some owners have "been suffering with a considerable number of bugs and set top crashes."
