Broadcast Station Totals
The FCC has released a list of Broadcast Station Totals As of June 30, 2003. The report showed there were a total of 1,726 TV stations (UHF, VHF, commercial and educational), a total of 600 Class A TV stations, 4,759 TV translators and 2,121 Low Power TV stations. The total number of all broadcast stations was 26,419. Note that for TV stations, DTV stations are not counted separately. A station with one analog and one digital TV facility was counted as one station.

I'll have a DTV status update next week. Links to my spreadsheet versions of the FCC TV Engineering database are available at www.transmitter.com.
