ATI Shipped Over 5 Million HDTV Chips in 2004
Chip manufacturer ATI shipped more than 5 million HDTV chips for HDTV sets and set-top boxes in 2004. This gives a good indication of trends in the manufacture of actual HDTV sets and STBs, as opposed to numbers of HD-capable displays, in that the chips are used in devices that receive and decode HDTV signals. ATI supplies HDTV chips to some 18 manufacturers of TV receivers and STBs.
