WGN offers WeatherBug reporting from 150 area tracking stations

WGN-TV in Chicago began offering viewers live streaming weather information from area schools and downtown locations May 23 thanks to a new partnership with WeatherBug.

The weather information will appear on a variety of the station’s news shows, including “WGN News at Nine.” WeatherBug’s information debuted on the newscast Wednesday.

The station is incorporating live weather data and video from 150 WeatherBug tracking stations and cameras, located on schools and public buildings throughout the Chicago area, into its weather coverage.

The station also can tap into the national network of 8000 WeatherBug tracking stations and 1000 cameras for live weather conditions and severe weather coverage from around the nation.
