WFTS-TV installs SSL digital audio console

Solid State Logic’s C100 digital broadcast console is handling live news shows and studio production for WFTS-TV in Tampa, FL.

As part of a complete digital upgrade, ABC affiliate WFTS-TV, a Scripps Howard owned station, has installed a Solid State Logic C100 digital broadcast console to handle its live newscasts and studio production.

The station is running both analog and digital audio sources through the 64-channel C100, a flexibility that helps the station bridge the gap between the production realities of today and its move to digital production.

Louie Cruz, a mix engineer at WFTS, said he is able to configure the console in a variety of ways to support the numerous local programs produced daily by the station. Prior to owning the C100, Cruz said he used only two utility buses for his audio mixes. Now, he has 24 at his fingertips and is typically using nine at any one time. The C100 has helped streamline its live broadcast production significantly.

The C100 also performs 5.1 mixes, whenever the station decides to move in that direction.
