Wal-Mart partners with film studios for downloads

Wal-Mart has partnered with all of the six major Hollywood studios — Disney, Warner, Paramount, Sony, Fox and Universal — to sell digital movies and TV shows on its Web site.

The retail giant now finds itself the underdog in competing for digital downloads with the likes of Apple's iTunes store, Amazon and CinemaNow.

One key advantage is that Wal-Mart will be the only digital download service supported by all six major studios.
