VFGadgets introduces heavy duty handles for digital camcorders
January 3, 2005
VFGadgets now offers a series of heavy duty handles, developed and manufactured by Precision Camera, for the Sony F900 and the PDW530 XDCAM, and Panasonic's VariCam camcorders. A fourth handle in this series for the Sony HDW-750 camera will be available soon.
Originally designed for camera rental houses in Toronto, the new handles are both light weight and tough, with a strong adjustable viewfinder mount system. The 24mm dovetail shoe mount is located on a solid adjustable post set in the front of each handle. This design eliminates any torque from extension viewfinder arms or just everyday wear from normal use.
The heavy duty handle for the Sony XDCAM offers a heat sink built into the back of the handle for improved cooling. The assign switches, which were on the top of the original XDCAM handle, have been placed on the base of the new heavy duty handle, in the front, for better protection - eliminating accidental use.
