Verizon Wireless extends EvDO Rev. A coverage
Verizon Wireless has expanded its Evolution-Data Optimized (EvDO) Revision A (Rev. A) coverage in the greater Washington, D.C., and Baltimore areas.
EvDO Rev. A offers upload speeds about five to six times faster than Verizon Wireless's EvDO wireless broadband service launched in 2003. In ENG situations, wireless broadband can play an important role in submitting edited stories via FTP with store-and-forward technology. It also can be used to establish a connection with the newsroom to extend a station's resources to reporters in the field.
Verizon Wireless's latest EvDO Rev. A rollout also covers northern Virginia and eastern Maryland. The area covered extends along Interstate-95 from Woodbridge, VA, to the border of Harford and Cecil Counties, MD.
With the new Rev. A network enhancements, the company's BroadbandAccess will provide average download speeds of 450kb/s-800kb/s and average upload speeds of 300kb/s-400kb/s.
