Top German news program improves workflow

Germany's most popular and longest running news program, Tagesschau, has begun using the Solutions for Media (S4M) Video Production Management System (VPMS) to produce digital news content.

Together with a Quantel sQ system, the VPMS handles a variety of tasks, including ingest and playout. Relying on the VPMS JobControl module, Tagesschau ingests material automatically. Tagesschau uses the VPMS PlayOut Control module to control playout to tape for archival storage of video server content on videotape.

The VPMS also synchronizes video material to create permanently available backups of videos. This approach to content management enables Tagesschau to record and delete video material from a single user interface.
