TDC Kabel TV to deploy Scientific Atlanta encoders

TDC Kabel TV has selected Scientific Atlanta’s MPEG-4 advanced video compression (AVC) encoder for delivery of cable and DSL video services in Denmark.

TDC is deploying more than 50 Model D9034 MPEG-4 encoders, with picture-in-picture viewing and MPEG-2 encoding options. Additionally, the PIP option supports a multichannel mosaic application where up to 16 “favorite” video programs can be viewed simultaneously on a screen.

TDC plans to use the MPEG-2 encoding option to deliver digital video to its cable customers, while initial plans call for bandwidth-saving MPEG-4 AVC encoding to be used for DSL video delivery.
