TANDBERG Television and Irdeto Access introduce “Earlybird” system

TANDBERG'S E5710 SD encoder is just one part of the Earlybird end-to-end system.

TANDBERG Television, in partnership with conditional access technology vendor Irdeto Access, will introduce an American version of the Earlybird system for direct-to-home satellite, cable and terrestrial broadcasting at NAB2003. Earlybird is an end-to-end system comprised of everything from content encoding through to the set-top box, designed to minimize start-up costs for new direct-to-home broadcasters.

TANDBERG, whose encoding, multiplexing, modulation and management technology is used in the system, is targeting the cable and terrestrial broadcast markets. It has partnered with Irdeto Access for conditional access systems technology, Great Lakes for subscriber management, and several set-top box manufacturers.
