Taiwan's largest CATV operator opts for Pinnacle's Mediastream 900

Pinnacle Systems' MediaStream 900 features up to 10 video I/O per server / over 100 channels per storage subsystem.

Eastern Television (ETTV), the largest Taiwanese CATV Channel Operator, has a new playout center for its Digital Cable Pay TV channels.

The operator now uses Pinnacle Systems' MediaStream 900 networked storage server for tapeless playout. Eastern Television's 12 Digital Cable Pay TV Channels offer a variety of programs including e-learning and sports.

The MediaStream 900 features up to 10 video I/O per server / over 100 channels per storage subsystem. It includes more than 1,000 hours of online storage and up to 300 hours of RAID protected storage per array. It has MPEG-2 4:2:0 and 4:2:2 compression, wide area networking over gigabit ethernet for local and long distance file transfers. It supports DVB and HDTV and has an open system control protocal.

Eastern Television will launch ETTV USA providing another 12 channels of programming this month. Four of the channels will playout using the MediaStream 900 networked storage server.
