StageTools releases new pan and zoom software for still animation

MovingPicture takes scanned images up to 4,000 pixels and allows for repeatable pans and zooms directly from a Macintosh or Windows computer or as a plug-in to most nonlinear editors.

StageTools has upgraded MovingPicture, a software tool for documentary and industrial filmmakers to pan and zoom on high-resolution still images.

MovingPicture 4.0 includes the ability to use the alpha channel in images for high-quality floating logos and special effects, the ability to rotate the camera in three dimensions to achieve “skewed” effects, support of MacOS X 1.2 (Jaguar), and a host of productivity enhancements.

MovingPicture takes scanned images up to 4,000 pixels and allows for repeatable pans and zooms directly from a Macintosh or Windows computer or as a plug-in to most nonlinear editors. The software is widely used by broadcasters, documentarians, schools, corporate and event videographers, including: ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC, BBC, PBS, MSNBC, Discovery, LifeTime, A&E, and Ken Burns.

The software package is available for Windows-based editors including After Effects, Avid, dpsVelocity, Discreet edit, FASTStudio Premiere, RexEdit and SpeedRazor. Macintosh versions are available for After Effects, Avid, Final Cut Pro, Media 100, and Premiere, for both MacOS 9 and X based systems.
