Sony announces XDCAM system compatibility with Omneon SPECTRUM

Sony's XDCAM professional disc system is now compatible with Omneon's SPECTRUM media server systems.

Sony's XDCAM professional disc system (top) and Omneon's SPECTRUM both support of the Material Exchange Format (MXF) media file format.

This lets users store content acquired with the XDCAM on the Omneon SPECTRUM, thus making the material readily available across a facility, and easily accessible in collaborative production applications, such as news editing.

Omneon’s SPECTRUM is a scalable video server infrastructure. With its open and advanced architecture, Omneon’s server system supports an array of third-party applications for control and transmission, media management, archiving, and collaborative production, allowing media to be shared among many users and applications.

Sony's and Omneon’s support of the Material Exchange Format (MXF) media file format provides further assurance of interoperability and streamlined workflows.
