Senate confirms Tate, Copps for FCC
December 27, 2005
The U.S. Senate last week confirmed Republican Tennessee regulator Deborah Tate to fill a Republican seat and Democrat Michael Copps to serve another term at the FCC. The approvals came by voice vote.
Tate will fill the remaining portion of a five-year term that expires June 30, 2007. She has been the chair and a director at the Tennessee Regulatory Authority. Copps, a member of the FCC since 2001, was approved for a new term that will expire June 30, 2010.
President Bush has yet to nominate anyone to fill the other Republican vacancy at the agency.
