Rohde & Schwarz announces R&S SSUStreamer for DVB set-top boxes

The R&S SSUStreamer (software system update) from Rohde & Schwarz provides a standardized solution for uploading software to DVB set-top boxes.

Based on R&S WebCarousel software, R&S SSUCarousel supports the transmission of firmware via all DVB platforms. Thus, network operators can update the software in existing set-top boxes in a uniform and convenient manner at any time. These updates are transmitted in parallel to the digital TV program and are automatically activated.

The SSU standard was unanimously adopted by the industry to uniformly update the operating system of set-top boxes and load it via digital TV. R&S SSUStreamer converts the software to be distributed into the required SSU byte structure in line with the standard. This SSU data is then transferred via R&S WebCarousel software in the digital TV signal to the set-top box.
