Raycom Media chooses Harris for end-to-end broadcast solution

Raycom Media has purchased an end-to-end broadcast solution, including video processing, branding and encoding systems and equipment, for 37 TV stations nationwide from Harris.

The broad suite of solutions will support HDTV, IPTV, video-on-demand and interactive TV applications. The Raycom systems are expected to be delivered on a scheduled basis during the next two years, with the first four stations scheduled to begin deployment in April.

Raycom purchased Harris NetVX ATSC encoding, the IconLogo branding system and NEO modular video processing products. Raycom TV stations will use the Harris NetVX platform for ATSC encoding of one HD and two SD signals multiplexed through their existing ATSC transmission facilities.

In addition to NetVX, Raycom stations will deploy the Harris NEO modular processing platform as a component of its video processing strategy. Also included in the project is the Neural Surround MultiMerge audio processor and a Triveni Digital GuideBuilder Pro centralized PSIP system.
