Quantel names Hinson to head product R&D
Quantel has appointed Neil Hinson to the position of research and development director and has promoted him to the company board of directors. He previously served as chief engineer in the Quantel R&D department.
Hinson said he finds pleasure in designing and building new machines, then seeing customers exploit them, often in ways he didn't even imagine. In his new role, Hinson will focus on delivering reliable, cutting edge products that will help customers be more efficient, profitable and creative.
Hinson began his career as an engineering apprentice in the RAF, where he worked on ground radar and missile systems. A move to Plessey followed where he was engaged in radar research, particularly in the area of digital signal processing, where he first came into contact with Quantel.
He joined Quantel in 1980. In his role as chief engineer, he was the project manager who delivered some of Quantel's most successful products‚ such as the Harry, Henry and Clipbox. Hinson was also one of the key architects of Quantel's current generationQ product family.
