Path 1, Harmonic Demo IPTV Technology at TelcoTV
Path 1 Network Technologies debuted its Vx8000 IPTV video gateway technology featuring DiviCom multicodec encoders from Harmonic at TelcoTV in San Diego.

This latest version of the Vx8000 IPTV video gateway addresses the issues surrounding real-time delivery of VoIP and DSL networks. The IPTV gateway features enhanced FEC technology, error protection and packet marking, and minimizes the visual effect of packet errors and addresses congestive loss. The IPTV gateway also enables telecom carriers to deliver real-time, MPEG-2, MPEG-4 and VC-1 video in SD and HD formats to remote locations over public and private IP networks, according to Path 1.

In addition, Path 1 designed its software-based implementation of the FEC algorithm so it can be added to existing and new set-top boxes.
