PacketVideo CORE media player supports new optical disc format

PacketVideo’s (PV) CORE software has been named Vmedia Research’s exclusive media player for handsets supporting its new tiny optical disc format, introduced at last month’s Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.

As its newest feature, PV’s CORE multimedia framework, an embedded multimedia engine, now supports playback of high-speed (30fps) Vmedia content. Vmedia is a miniature optical disc format bringing the quality of a big-screen experience and the simplicity of home entertainment to mobile consumer electronics. It will make its debut this June with the introduction of a Vmedia-enabled phone from Spice Mobile, a youth-oriented mobile carrier covering Indian and Southeast Asia markets.
