NEP taps Grass Valley gear for two new multi-format digital trucks

NEP Supershooters is building two multi-format live production 53-foot rigs that will handle both standard definition and HD digital multi-camera sports and entertainment events. The trucks are outfitted with a variety of Grass Valley production equipment.

The two new NEP trucks combine 40 Grass Valley LDK 6000 mk II Worldcam cameras.

The first of the mobile truck company's new trucks, dubbed SS20, will make its debut during the HD broadcast of the Academy Awards in Hollywood this spring. It will then help televise HD broadcasts of professional football, baseball, hockey and basketball games. The second truck will provide coverage of major entertainment events throughout the year.

The trucks will support multiple HD formats, including 720p, 1080i and 24p.

The two new NEP trucks combine 40 Grass Valley LDK 6000 mk II Worldcam cameras, two HD Kalypso Video Production Center switchers and multiple HD Grass Valley Profile XP Media Platform servers.

The LDK 6000 captures native progressive HD images in multiple formats and frame rates. It also uses a triax transmission system that is compatible with most professional sports arenas in the U.S.
