NBC Universal makes news widgets available to Web publishers

NBC Universal today is expanding the distribution of its news, entertainment and sports programming on the Web by transforming some content into easily portable widgets for individual bloggers and Web publishers.

The first widgets to become available will include content from "Dateline," "Hardball with Chris Matthews," "Meet the Press" and "NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams," as well as content from NBC Sports, DotComedy.com and iVillage.com. The network plans to add more content in the future.

The network will rely on a content syndication and distribution platform from Clearspring Technologies.
