NBA, NHL Get HD Treatment on DirecTV
DirecTV, which expects to have as many as 100 HDTV channels available nationwide by year-end, will bring its HD treatment to pro basketball and hockey in HD during the 2007–08 season.

DirecTV has already launched NBA TV HD, with plans to offer more than 72 games and other programming in HD.

The NHL Network will run in both SD and HD and will include 50 live regular-season games this season in HD plus its daily live show, “NHL on the Fly,” and other content.

With the addition of NHL Network HD, DirecTV now offers 74 full-time national HD channels, including 18 sports networks.
