NAB updates DTV list

The NAB updated its list of stations on-the-air with a digital signal to include 19 more commercial television stations, bringing the current total to 885. Roughly 400 commercial stations are still analog-only, more than a year after their government mandate to do so, although all have granted some type of extension by the FCC.

Of the 19 new DTV stations, ABC affiliate KRCR-DT, in Redding, Calif., is the first in its market on-air with DTV.

The other new stations include: KPAX Missoula, Mont., (Market Rank #169); WPTV, West Palm Beach, Fla. (Market Rank #39); KMTV Omaha, Neb. (Market Rank #78); WKBT La Crosse, Wis., (Market Rank #123); WTWB Greensboro, N.C. (Market Rank #46); WUPV Richmond, Va. (Market Rank #59); KTEN Sherman, Texas (Market Rank #160); WILX Lansing, Mich. (Market Rank #111); WBXX Knoxville, Tenn. (Market Rank #63); KBJR Duluth, Minn. (Market Rank #136); WUPW Toledo, Ohio (Market Rank #68); WYBE Philadelphia (Market Rank #4); WPCB Pittsburgh (Market Rank #21); KQDS Duluth, Minn. (Market Rank #136); WVII Bangor, Maine (Market Rank #153); WHNO New Orleans (Market Rank #42); WOTF Orlando, Fla. (Market Rank #20); and KVRR Fargo, N.D. (Market Rank #118).

The NAB said that DTV signals are now available in 189 markets that include 97.67 percent of U.S. TV households. In addition, 78.06 percent of the more than 106 million U.S. TV households are in markets with five or more broadcasters airing DTV and 46.34 percent are in markets with eight or more broadcasters sending digital signals.
