NAB and Decisionmark to promote HDTV

The NAB is backing new educational efforts to promote digital and high-definition television.

Part of the promotion includes a www.CheckHD.com, a new Web site that answers consumer questions about digital television, purchasing new digital televisions, and other consumer-related interests. The site launches this week.

Decisionmark created the Web site to inform consumers about the availability of local digital and HDTV channels, how to purchase a digital television set, and to answer basic DTV questions. Various stakeholders in the DTV transition, including television receiver manufacturers and several broadcast groups, have endorsed CheckHD.com.

The NAB will provide links to www.CheckHD.com, and will encourage local television stations throughout the U.S. to do likewise. The trade group will also continue making available a 30-second promotional television spot “DTV: It’s Like Being There,” to member stations.

For more information, visit www.CheckHD.com.
