MultiChoice taps S3’s onHandTV for mobile broadcast TV services

MultiChoice has selected Silicon & Software Systems (S3)’s onHand TV software for DVB-H to further develop its interactive mobile broadcast TV services.

MultiChoice is one of the largest pay-TV operators in Africa, with operators in 47 countries on the African continent and adjacent Indian Ocean islands. Its DStv Mobile business unit is in the process of testing DVB-H mobile TV transmission technology for possible use during the 2010 World Cup in South Africa. The company has already used the technology to launch commercial DVB-H services in Namibia, Kenya and Nigeria.
