LG Rolls Out a Hi-def Icebox
LG has set a new benchmark in space-saving technology by combining an icebox with a hi-def TV to create a hi-def TV icebox. The so-called "world's first high-definition TV refrigerator" was debuted at the 2007 Kitchen & Bath Industry Show in Las Vegas May 8-10.

More powerful than a three-year-old set-top receiver, the LG HDTV side-by-side fridge has a fifth-generation ATSC-QAM-NTSC tuner feeding a 15-inch LCD screen. In addition to the traditional capacity to chill a six of Coors, the fridge also features a "Weather & Info Center for weather forecasts, uploadable photo album and recipe bank," said John Herrington, president of LG Electronics USA digital appliances division in Englewood Cliffs, N.J. There's also a remote, an FM radio and a DVD connection on top of the unit, "for hours of kitchen entertainment," according to LG.

The HD fridge, model LSC27990TT, also has an icemaker. It will be available in the second quarter of 2007 for $3,999.
