Lamb to receive Presidential Medal of Freedom

C-SPAN president and CEO Brian Lamb will receive the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the nation's highest civil award, at a White House ceremony Nov. 5.

More than 25 years ago, Lamb persuaded Congress to open Congressional proceedings to TV coverage.

Lamb will be honored along with this year’s other recipients, who include economist Gary Becker; Cuban freedom advocate Oscar Elias Biscet; genetic researcher Francis Collins; civil rights advocate Benjamin Hooks; former U.S. House Representative member Henry Hyde; author Harper Lee; and Liberian president Ellen Johnson Sirleaf.
