KAET-TV automates with MicroFirst

KAET–TV, a PBS member station located at Arizona State University, has selected MicroFirst’s new digital automation system to provide a streamlined workflow for the ingest, transmission and metadata management of its multichannel content.

The system will control KAET’s multiple video servers, switchers, routers, VTRs and IRDs. A smaller version of the system has controlled the station’s servers and VTRs for several years.

The system handles all of activities on a specially designed embedded hardware platform, running a real-time OS. This environment and reduces the OS boot up time to a 10 seconds.

MicroFirst has manufactured and deployed more than 100,000 embedded controllers running the same real time OS in a variety of applications.
