JVC Launches Blu-Ray/DVD Combo ROM
JVC is unveiling its Blu-Ray/DVD Combo ROM disc with a 33.5 GB capacity.

The disc can store both HD and SD video has a one-side readout, triple layer structure of an outer 25 GB Blu-ray disc (BD) and an inner 8.5 GB DVD dual layer.

A disc can be reproduced in high-definition BD video quality on a large home theatre system or play back the disc at SD DVD video on a smaller TV set or computer.

This new technology uses both red blue lasers. The blue laser is read to the outer BD layer during reproduction and the red laser reads the inner DVD dual layer.

JVC is also developing a 58.5 GB DVD dual layer storage disc.

When the disc will be available is not yet known.
