International broadcasters turning to Globecast for soccer championships

Satellite services company GlobeCast will provide production services, satellite delivery and broadcast management services to international broadcasters for coverage of the European Football Championships June 12-14 in Lisbon, Portugal.

Among the broadcasters turning to Globecast are Sky News, Sky Sports News, French broadcaster Francetelevisions and Japanese national TV, Wow Wow.

GlobeCast has secured two exclusive stand-up positions: one overlooks Luz Stadium, host of the quarter final and final on July 4, the other overlooks the Jose Alvalade Stadium, also in Lisbon, which will host a quarter final and one of the semi finals.

Additional international feed points are available at the Drago Stadium in Porto and the Municipal Stadium in Coimbra. GlobeCast mobile SNG facilities are also available for broadcasters wishing to conduct interviews from within the town centers.

More than 10 billion viewers are expected to tune into the championships.
